HOW TO TAME LUST? ===================================== "If you give indulgence to your passion of lust, it will take control over you. Hence it must be actively ignored. The tendency of lust towards women should be erased from the mind. And in the outer world, one should create such an environment that the mind doesn't even get the chance to think over all those things. One should always be preoccupied in undertaking some virtuous deeds and holy responsibilities. One should never be a puppet at the hands of complexes by any way. The five senses are always trying to attract us towards them. That's why to avoid this, surrender to the Ideal is needed. Just verbal surrender is not surrender at all. Practically, one should indulge oneself in active service towards the Lord - whatever is possible for one to do at a given time, place and circumstance." Ref. [Alochana Prasange, Vol.6, pg. 164-165, 4th ed]

“I want to know what you say you are?" One evening as we sat with the group around Thakur, Mother arose, and without preliminaries, asked, "Thakur, a great many of your followers claim that you are God. Now I want to know what you say you are?" The group stirred restlessly, clearly resenting what sounded to them like an attack upon their Saint. An elderly disciple arose at once. "I can explain this . . ." "No, no," Mother cut him off rather rudely, "I've already heard what all of you had to say. Now I want to know what Thakur says!" Thakur's face glowed with a wide, boyish smile. Obviously, he enjoyed both the discomfiture of the group and this American mother's determination. "Ma, if they call me God, will it make me more than I am? And if they call me devil, will it make me any less? As you see me, so I am." Mother nodded, satisfied, and sat down. Apparently, she chose to see him as a son, for in the months that followed, she advised and questioned this elderly Guru in much the same manner and tone that she used with my brothers and me. Thakur responded with a demonstration of filial devotion and affection that exposed my own inadequate attempts to please, to understand . . . and be understood ... as superficial. In this three-way relationship, Mother and I grew very close, and our new understanding pervaded every aspect of our lives together. When her visit was over, she said, "He can't be God. No man can. But Thakur has loved God so deeply that he has gained many qualities of God. He's become godlike/' As the final good-bys were said she wept unashamedly. So did Thakur. So did I. After she had returned to America, I received a letter from my elder brother, a Protestant minister. In it he wrote, "Mother has grown in understanding and depth during the past months with you. It is hard to believe. The regard she has for your Thakur is of such a high order, that someday, if I get the opportunity, I'll come and talk with him myself." The depth to which the Name is repeated, the immunity power also increases to the same extent. With Name, various changes and developments occur in our mind and body. Those changes are very easy and normal." Ref.[Alo: Pra. Vol. 16, 3/4/1949]

The last words of Deshbandhu & Thakur’s warnings Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das passed away at his Darjeeling resort “Step Aside” on 16th June,1925. Sri Manohar Chandra Basu who was whole time P.A. to Deshbandhu disclosed the last statement of Deshbandhu after a few days of his sad demise. At the last moment of his life, Deshbandhu desired, "Bhombal, aami Pabna jabo [Bhombal, I ‘ll go Pabna].” At that time, Mr.Chiraranjan Das alias ‘Bhombal’ who was his only son was staying with his wife Sujata Devi at Pabna Satsang Ashram under the guidance of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra. Deshbandhu took the holy initiation from Mata Manmohini Devi on 14th May,1924. After that, in a historic letter to Mahahtma Gandhi Deshbandhu wrote him,”I was beset with innumerable difficulties which, in-spite of the knowledge and experience I had, I could not solve. But, I got a very strong feeling from Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra after accepting Him as my Guru. I have learnt from my Guru , the value of Truth in all our dealings. I want you to live with Him for a few days at least. Your need is not the same as mine. But, He has given me strength, I did not possess before. I see things clearly which I saw dimly before.” Before leaving for his much needed vacation in Darjeeling to recover his poor health C.R.Das declared with high hopes, “Thakur, I ‘m going to make this village the brain centre of India. I ‘ll bring all the leaders here to meet with you!” “Das da,” Thakur shook His head sadly, “Will such attention make us more than we are? Come. Stay with us a while. Rest and regain your health. You are exhausted Das da …….” But, Basanti Devi (wife of Deshbandhu) was infused with a nervous tension that Deshbandhu could not take proper rest in Pabna instead of Darjeeling. So, Deshbandhu left Pabna promising Thakur that he would come back for a longer stay in the near future. But, he was never to return. Ten days later the Satsangees were saddened by the news that their eminent brother ,C.R.Das was no more. With this death, the followers of Thakur had felt again that there should be no alternative way of Thakur’s warnings. During the process of fertilisation, when an equivalent wave form of the urge is produced in the vital sperm (that fuses with the ovum), tuning takes place and the dead can attain a new body in the form of re birth. The life that we all cherish and wish to hold on. To Buddhism, however, death is not the end of life, it is merely the end of the body we inhabit in this life, but our spirit will still remain and seek out through the need of attachment, attachment to a new body and new life. Where they will be born is a result of the past and the accumulation of positive and negative action, and the resultant karma (cause and effect) is a result of one's past actions. This would lead to the person to be reborn in one of 6 realms which are; heaven, human beings, Asura, hungry ghost, animal and hell. Realms, according to the severity of one's karmic actions, Buddhists believe however, none of these places are permanent and one does not remain in any place indefinitely. So we can say that in Buddhism, life does not end, merely goes on in other forms that are the result of accumulated karma. American disciple Mr. Bob Cumming wrote a letter to Sree Sree Thakur on his returning from Deoghar to U.S.A. A Letter of few letters was full of love, dedication & regards from a devotee to his Living Ideal : “Dear and Reverend Thakur, I have reached Bombay safely. Be in me. I ask this specially when I am away and can not come to sit in the sun with you. I hope you are well. With much love…………………. Bob (08.12.1964).”

"A great experiment for the uplift of the people in every possible way is being undertaken during the last 25 years under the inspiring guidance of Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra of Satsang Ashram. The progress achieved has been remarkable is more than one-way. The collection of a band of sacrificing workers for the economic, moral and spiritual education of the masses is a proof positive of the high ideal of this institution. But the manner in which this ideal is worked out is even more worthy of note. I think the path of our freedom lies much in the manner of work that Satsang is doing." -sd /- Gopinath Bardoloi Premier, Assam 05.08.1945 Excerpts from “Priyoparam” by Debiprasad Mukhopadhyay [Pg. 55-56]
